Engineering Words in Korean
Ok yeah this is random but my friend is a mechanical engineering major so I wanted to know the word for ‘engineer’, and it turns out that figuring out the word for ‘engineer’ is WAY more complicated than expected.
이상하다 vs 엉뚱하다 vs 낯설다 / being strange
A quick guide to the difference between these 3 words because Google Translate pretty much translates them all to ‘strange’
Treecko Korean Evolutions
A lot of Pokemon names in English are puns. Like Treecko (tree/gecko) or Bulbasaur (a plan bulb + dinosaur)
엉뚱하다 = to defy logic, be random, erratic, unpredictable
If you search for the word Google will tell you that it means erratic. This is right, but erratic carries a sort of….psychotic negative connotation with it. 엉뚱하다 has a more broad, conceptual meaning.
